Since 2013, Snowball has operated the credential management platform and cryptographic foundation behind the world's largest mobile wallet, transit, and digital car key programs. Today, the same foundation governs a new generation of connected products as digital assets — from factory provisioning to deployed lifecycle operations.
Snowball began in 2013, when a core team from NXP Semiconductors' Secure Service division set out as a strategic partner to NXP. The vision was to close a gap they'd spent careers watching widen — the technical complexity of managing credentials across device OEMs and service providers, and the fragmentation of the ecosystems they had to operate in.
That operational foundation first scaled across mobile wallets, transit cards, and digital car keys — issuing 120M+ credentials across phones, vehicles, and transit networks. What began as credential infrastructure for people is today a cryptographic foundation carrying both — credentials for people, and trust for the connected devices around them — operating on certified infrastructure under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO/IEC 27001.
Today, the same cryptographic backbone powers OnBoard™ IoT Security — extending governed provisioning, OTA operations, and lifecycle trust to connected products at production scale.

Whether you're evaluating provisioning architecture, operational trust workflows, or CRA lifecycle readiness — we'd welcome the conversation.
